Day 21: GoFundMe for a Dog Shelter in China

Yesterday, for the first time, I missed my 100 Days post.

Instead, I spent Friday afternoon and evening and all of Saturday doing something I'd never done before: editing a YouTube video and starting a GoFundMe campaign. It took me so much time. But I did it.

This summer, my nine-year-old daughter and I visited an animal shelter in my hometown of Danyang, China. One man – Xiaoding – has been caring for around 300 rescued dogs there since 2021, almost entirely alone. Meeting him, I could feel his exhaustion and his worry. And his heart.

Many of you know I'm a mom of two cats and a dog. Since they came into my life, I see animals differently. I can't help every animal. But I can help the ones I meet.

So I started a GoFundMe: Xiaoding is currently missing the rent for the shelter grounds – about €2,600, due end of September. 100% of donations go directly to him, and I'll publish every transfer transparently.

Please don't feel any pressure to donate. With so much chaos in the world, being generous isn't always easy. Sharing the story and reposting is also helpful. And always: adopt, don't shop.
