You might have noticed: my last posts are always published between 10pm and midnight.
Here is why:
- 5:30am — get up, prepare breakfast
- 6:00am — wake up my son
- 6:30am — wake up my daughter
- 7:30am — bring my daughter to school & walk the dog
- 8:15am — start work
- 4:30pm — finish work, drive the kids to their hobbies, walk the dog
- 6:00pm — cook dinner, eat together, everyone shares their day
- 7:00pm — dishes, help homework, walk the dog
- 8:00pm — read with my daughter and stay with her until she falls asleep
- 9:00pm — finally, Feierabend. Now I can write.
- 10:00pm — publish.

What gets me up is not discipline. It's that I said "100 days" publicly. Announcing it here made it a commitment I didn't want to break.
Writing at 9pm became a habit, like walking my dog.
Many people keep asking me how to find time. I don't have more energy than anyone else. Two things help me: mindset and habit make a difference.
Respect to every parent who gives their best to their family all day and still keeps something for themselves at 9pm.
What has helped you stick to a personal goal when you were too tired to feel motivated?
This is part of my "100 Days of Year One" series. Follow along as I share what I've learned in my first year as Head of Data and Cloud.
