My most successful LinkedIn post last year reached 25K impressions.
It was about my data strategy — how I would implement it, step by step.
Nine months later, the honest truth: I haven't started.
I pitched it to the management board — at the wrong time, as it turned out. Then the year got busy, and time went fast.
If I wanted to make it sound nice, I'd say I was focused on restructuring and the other most important projects.
In other words: I didn't manage to start. I failed at my own plan.
This summer I joined a data strategy workshop and exchanged experiences with people from other companies. What surprised me: few of them knew if their company even had a data strategy. Some simply didn't. Others needed two or three years to get there.
I'm not alone. That doesn't excuse it, but it changed my conclusion:
Don't start with the big strategy. Start with small projects that prove the value — and let the strategy grow out of them.
That's my plan for year two. Smaller, but real.
What happened to the big plan you announced last year?
